Dear All

The postcard with pictures from Hoi An and Golden Bridge is, unfortunately, my last postcard on this trip. I have decided to drop the rest of my tour and am now back in the cold.

Unfortunately, my walking has gone from limited to almost impossible, and without being able to move around properly, the last destinations on my trip do not really make sense.

I managed to see Hoi An’s old town on a cyclo tour, but it is not the same as walking around. I also made a trip to the Golden Bridge, which opened in 2017. It is located in Bah Na Hills, where there is also a large amusement center. You can call it a Vietnamese Disneyland. There were a lot of people as it is a favorite place for the locals. My last trip was a Jeep tour from Hoi An to Hue. It was a lovely trip with very different and beautiful scenery, so a great way to end the trip.

Luckily I got to see and experience a lot, and I hope to be completely healthy again so that I can go back and finish my trip.

Now I hope we soon get warm temperatures at home and look forward to enjoying springtime

Best regards and thanks for reading the blog

Dear All

A postcard from Dalat a city with a lot to offer. It is located in the highlands of southern Vietnam, built by the French around a large lake. Here are no rice fields, but lots of plastic covered fields, as the significant production is flowers, strawberries, and coffee.

I also saw some waterfalls, a beautiful park called Love Valley, some beautiful temples and some fun Buddha statues as well as a hotel called Crazy House, It really was a crazy house with a small garden that was a bit like a cobweb.

I stayed very central – a little too much maybe. The hotel was just behind the market street, so there was noise from very early morning to late evening. They get up early in Vietnam. The markets start already before 5 in the morning and traffic starts with their constant push. There are no traffic lights in the city, although it is a reasonably large city

Dalat is also a famous tourist town for the Vietnamese, because of the fresh and not so hot air and it is definitely worth a visit.

Now I’m in Hoi An, which I look very much forward to experience the next few days.

Usually, it’s nice to get greetings from home, yesterday, however, I got a not so great message. Water damage in my apartment building, and it is only 8 months since last time.

After some spring days, I have noticed that it is now cold again at home. Fortunately, it should not last long before springtime arrives for good.

All the best

Greetings from Mekong Delta and Ho Chi Minh City

It’s actually my last day in HCMC or Saigon as it is still called here. Getting to Vietnam has been a little different. I was almost missing the noisy and smelly Tuk-tuk’s because they made it easy to get around. They do not exist here, where almost everything is by a scooter or motorcycle. There are of course also taxis, but you do not see and experience the same from a closed car. Fortunately, the best way to experience the Mekong Delta is from a boat. I had a nice trip with a super sweet guide over 2 days, with homestay at her parent’s house. It was a great experience. The next morning we were up early to experience the floating market and among other things also, see a noodle factory.

In Saigon, the best experience has been to see the city on a cyclo tour. Nice way to be transported around and experience people, the many markets and not least the traffic really close. The city is enormous, and there is a market for everything you can imagine with prices approx. 20% below regular retail prices. I very much like the city and as far as I can you can get everything here.

I have also been visiting a clinic to have my hip scanned, and the good news is that nothing has happened, but I have an infection. This means that I am now on the same painkillers as after my surgery. Hopefully, I can fully stand on my leg again in a few days so I won’t have to travel through the rest of Vietnam with the help of my stick

My next stop is by plane to Dalat, located in the highlands here in southern Vietnam.

Hope all is well for you.

Best wishes
